Saint Joseph Recommendations
Silver Beach Pizza
A local legend perched right along the Amtrak tracks, Silver Beach Pizza is where the weekend officially begins for Bob, Scott, and Reese. Famous for its crispy, cheesy pies and lively energy, this spot delivers great views of the lake, trains rolling by, and even better pizza.
Tip: Ask for your beer in a Schooner — a massive, frosty glass that keeps every sip ice cold. Perfect after a beach day or as a prelude to a night out in Saint Joseph.
Silver Harbor Brewing Company
Just steps from downtown Saint Joseph, this lively brewpub serves up craft beers, hearty comfort food, and a warm Midwestern welcome. It’s a great spot to unwind after exploring the lakefront or shopping downtown.
For first-timers: Don’t leave without trying the cheese curds. A proud Midwesterner once told Chris Sr. he hadn’t truly lived until he had one...
Grand Mere State Park
Just a short drive south of Saint Joseph, this state park is a hidden gem for nature lovers (and future "birders" like Chris). Picture towering sand dunes, peaceful forest trails, and miles of stunning Lake Michigan shoreline. Whether you're up for a scenic hike or just want to sink your toes into the soft white sand, it's the perfect spot for a pre-wedding beach walk or full-on beach day.
Fun fact: It’s one of the Rehder family’s favorite spots to walk their six (yes, six!) King Charles Cavaliers.
The Market
A downtown Saint Joseph favorite, The Market offers wine, brews on tap, and artisanal foods from local vendors- perfect for sampling, grazing, and handing out with friends and family.
Saint Joseph Beach
Just steps from downtown Saint Joseph, this wide, sandy beach offers stunning views of Lake Michigan and the iconic Saint Joseph North Pier Lighthouse — especially beautiful at sunset! It’s the perfect spot for a morning stroll, beach picnic, or pre-wedding moment of calm, all within easy walking distance of shops, cafés, and restaurants.
